Senior Compliance Manager

Penn Capital is seeking a Senior Compliance Manager who will be responsible for the day-to-day compliance functions relating to the investment advisory business of an SEC registered investment adviser, including testing and surveillance to ensure the adequacy of policies and procedures and the effectiveness of their implementation. Must be knowledgeable about compliance programs operated pursuant to the Investment Adviser Acts of 1940 and Investment Company Act of 1940. 


  • Supervise the firm’s compliance program
  • Design and performing compliance tests, periodic reviews, and internal audits
  • Maintain compliance calendar and ensure recurring tasks are tracked, completed, and recorded
  • Review/approve marketing materials, including RFP responses and developing disclosures
  • Conduct periodic due diligence in vendors and service providers
  • Identify and manage compliance/operational risks; maintain the firm’s risk matrix
  • Update or coordinate regulatory filings and disclosures (e.g., Form ADV, Form U4, etc.)
  • Develop compliance education tools for employees
  • Certifications, and case management; create reports to evidence archived activities
  • Oversight of portfolio management compliance, client guidelines, restrictions and trading activity, including best execution
  • Conduct and coordinate Rule 206(4)-7 and Rule 38(a)-1 annual compliance reviews
  • Coordinate regulatory examinations and client due diligence reviews
  • Collaborate with members of the firm and senior management; participating on firm committees and coordinating audits and other meetings
  • Stay abreast of applicable regulatory developments and make relevant updates to policies and procedures
  • Provide feedback and input to assist in continued development of program efficiencies
  • Reporting any potential or perceived violations of applicable laws, rules or firm policies
  • Collaborate with firm’s Series 24 Supervising Principal on registered representative activities and reporting
  • Other tasks and projects as assigned


  • Bachelors or equivalent college degree
  • 5 years’ industry related compliance experience
  • In-depth understanding of SEC, FINRA and state rules that govern advisors, registered funds, private funds and registered representative supervision
  • Excellent analytical, reasoning and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to understand, interpret and communicate complex rules and regulations and communicate to clients and internal staff, including management
  • Serve a critical role as primary compliance point-of-contact for unaffiliated FINRA member firm that registered representatives are associated with
  • Strong writing skills and presentation skills
  • Ability to skillfully and professionally interact with clients and senior management
  • High attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize workflow and meet deadlines

Administrative Associate 

Penn Capital is seeking an Administrative Associate to assist the Executive Administrative Associate in managing front office related activities. S/he shall assist in greeting guests, answering phones, and providing a positive guest experience. Additional responsibilities include clerical and administrative related tasks, light bookkeeping, and occasional marketing team support. 

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Guest Management and Suite Operations - Greet guests in a professional manner; assist in providing a positive experience at the firm
  • Phone System Management
  • Various clerical responsibilities including, but not limited to, scanning, filing, and other administrative duties on an as needed basis
  • Ensure phone calls and general mailbox messages are directed accordingly
  • Vendor management
  • Management/Distribution of firm wide correspondence
  • Administrative tasks for senior management including calendar management and ad hoc requests 

Desired Knowledge and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work in a team environment
  • Excellent phone etiquette and outstaning customer service orientation
